This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
Hiya, Rob! Didn't know you were a new member, man. Welcome to DeviantArt, and thank you for visiting the gallery - to be visited by such a talented artist is an honour indeed!
And from the UK, too... we're privileged to have you here!

a) Indeed! It's possible that i've improved ten-fold since i joined DA; the level of inspiration and information that's on here is astounding. It can be disheartening to see people who are so much more talented than myself, but i'm gradually adhering to my philosophy that each artist has their own path to walk, and so we're not better or worse than another, just different. if you intend on sticking around, i think you may well experience a similar level of involvement; plus, you're obviously a talented artist as well, so i'm guessing that you may well build up a sizeable fan base in time.
However, one thing to warn you about is the pageview system. Having been here for a long time and seen many popular people, i can tell you honestly that pageviews don't always match talent. A lot of artists jump on bandwagons to get more attention (i've been there myself!), or whore themselves and their abilities out to become more popular. So if there comes a time when you see an artist with hundreds of thousands of pageviews, they haven't necessarily earned it.
b) You're welcome for the comments! You may be new to the community, but i can already tell that you have a lot of talent, so i may be one of many before too long.

I really appreciate you taking the time to give me some great advice. This is the first time I've put any of my personal work out there for people to see.
I do story boards for advertising agencies most of the time, so I suppose I should be used to the feeling of whoring myself.
Thanks for making me feel welcome, I do know what you mean though, a few kind words can go straight to your head. I have to say I received more kind comments in the first five minutes of joining DA than I have in seven years of story boarding.

I'm pleased it was of use to you, Rob. Congratulations on taking the step into the public eye; it's not the easiest thing in the world to present work you've spent a long time on, and put a lot of effort into; especially on the Internet, where people abuse the privilege of anonymity to tear strips off people.

Well, i wouldn't be hard on yourself. When artistry is your profession, getting out there and getting people to see your work is very important; for some people, it's the difference between eating and going hungry! I personally would describe people as whoring themselves when they really scrape the bottom of the barrel and do things that compromise their dignity and standing as an artist - i can tell from conversing with you that that's not your style.

You're welcome - it's cool that people are recognising your talent so early on in your DA experience! Beware of the 'yes men', though; there are a lot of people floating around in the community who will say black is white if they think they can get some free artwork out of it. No matter how much they try to butter you up, i think it's important to keep in mind that as a professional artist, your time is money; i'm not saying never draw anything for anybody if you'd actually like to, but you can't pay the bills with compliments.
"You've got me as you're no.1 fan."
Well Rob, i am honoured and privileged to be appreciated by such a skilled illustrator.

What a great site, it's a real inspiration.
There's so much talent out there it's jaw dropping.
Thanks again for your kind comments especially from another artist, it means a lot.
